View Full Version : I hate my new job

Okay, some of you might remember that I moved into a new position a few months ago. At the time I thought the possibilities were endless, you know that this would be a stepping stone.

I see now this is not the case. I have not been trained properly, only when something comes up, and I am being scolded (yes scolded) do I become aware of a certain procedure. I wouldn't trip if they simply said, "you should do x,y,z so that a,b,c won't happen" They also keep saying I should ask questions, ummm why would I ask question if I don't know what to ask. I've said several times "when I have a question I do ask, these things I didn't have questions on" What's funny is this person makes mistakes all the time (hey it's part of life) and I correct them for her, but I don't scold her about it. Damn.

Even though I took over the job more than 2 months ago individuals still go to the lady who did the job before me to ask questions. Which in turn she asks me, ummm, why don't they just ask me? My old coworker said that she should be directing those people to me so they'll know. Hmmm.

I came in at a lower pay than what the lady who worked in this job was doing, now b/c of the union contract I'm making even less. I'm really trying to stick this out until I can hopefully get a buyout. Pray for me y'all.

Why the fuck did I just hear someone asking the supervisor how much I was making?

Then she wanted her to clarify my duties. Does she just make entries or does she calculate stuff also? Bitch, I'm right here ask me since you so damn interested :blast

I've got a job interview on August 23rd. I just want to bet out of here, like now!!!

I cannot believe these people are like this, it really comes as a shock.

Remember I told y'all how they are always speaking in Tagalog well this is in regards to work related issues. So they'll speak to each other, then tell the manager about the problems. They'll have a little 3way meeting. Do you know this muthafucka (manager) had the nerve to tell me to get involved? Shouldn't he be telling them to make sure I'm involved? So uh I gotta learn Tagalog to do my job now?

Pray and breathe. You know you have other opportunities so just pray for now.

Thanks Eringer. You are right. I'm getting myself and everyone all worked up for nothing. Last night I felt so uneasy, sick to my stomach.

Myst, take it easy. Dont let them get on ya nerves.

Question.....
The person that asked about YOUR pay, are they senior management??
Do they work in that aspect? Your pay should ONLY be discussed with
you, H.R, and your boss. No one else.

Also, Does any one say anything to the ladies that speak tagalog? No???
They have a right to speak what they wish.....but not in the presence of other
company personnel. This was addressed in the Navy years ago and is a rule
that is adheared to.

No, she was just a nosey broad trying to find out how much more than her I made. She just doesn't want to be underpaid, but what she doesn't seem to get is my position is senior to hers it is not inline w/hers. Which is why I guess she asked about whether or not I calculated stuff or did I just enter it. Bitch please.

I'm not saying they don't have a right to speak what they wish, that's something that should be clear. It's fine that they speak their language, b/c she even asked me about it, what I have a problem with is that they don't include me in the work related conversations, yet my manager expects me to "get involved." How can I get involved if I don't know there's something that needs me to get involved. So I am saying if they only speak in Tagalog do I have to know it so that I can be involved. IMO that's something he should talk to them about and not me.

I am trying my best to take it easy, but it is difficult when people are sitting around talking about you in your presence.

So. August 23rd passed. Did you get the new job?

It wasn't even a real interview like I had thought. It was more of an oral examination. It's a job with the city. So all they did was ask me questions to determine I knew how to do the job. I will be placed on a list and ranked, and then the department will hire from that list. I don't believe they necessarily go in order by how you are ranked.

Hopefully, I'll at least know where I am ranked within the next week or so.

They really getting on my nerves today. My manager still hasn't given me the task that was assigned to me by the controller. The controller said that if he doesn't give it to me this week to let him know.

I am ready to start :blast folks around here.

I'm trying to stay calm.

There is a younger lady here who I believe is also an accounting major, and she works here part time marking the paper. She is of Filipino decent (very nice young lady too by the way). Anyhoo she's being trained on Statistics and this is what my supervisor says:

"Well Detra would have trouble understanding this stuff" (how did I get in this? )
And I had to bite my tongue from saying I don't have trouble understanding anything. If you know how to explain it

but then she cleans it up by saying "b/c you don't know papermarking"

which i could have sworn i was supposed to learn. My manager brought that up in the weekly staff meeting once quite some time back and that was the end of that.
so she says "do you want to learn it" and i just looked at her and said
"that's not what i came here to do."
Since you tryna be funny bitch

Now I know I need to crawl before I can walk, but these folks keep catching me off guard and it's my nature to be a smart ass.

Give me the bad debt. Damn. I asked for the analysis, the controller said he wants to give it to me. The CFO says that they need me. Well they better start acting like it. Before I :banit in this here place.

I can see that I'm about two other unnecessary incidents away from going off. And this is soooooo unlike me.

I need to have a meeting and talk to them about this before this shit gets anymore out of hand.

Oh and yesterday while my Manager was signing my journal entries. He starts giving me all these rapid fire questions. And he asks if I resolved the $30k missing from the A/R account. I let him know, well that's something you discussed w/the other two ladies. Nope, I was not included in the discussion even though I was sitting right here and kind of heard it. Not to mention that after the discussion the ladies didn't seek to inform me. I mean here we go again, I don't speak Tagalog.

Anyway. This muthafugga had the nerves to say well we are all a team. Now I'm sitting there tryna search my brain for the last time I felt included in this so called team. Anyways. I simply replied, I never was missing $30k from my A/R so I don't know what the problem was :fu

Then my supervisor gets upset with me b/c I haven't been having him sign HER weekly downloads when I have him sign my work. Now she has never said this is something I needed to do, plus I don't take the folder in there to be signed I just take my printouts. If you want something done just let me know. I can't read minds. Yet :upto:

Sounds like you need a detailed job description.

Sounds like you need a detailed job description. They have one. And I'm doing everything that's in my job description. And then some.

They asked what is it that would make me happy with my job. You know make me want to stay. And I told them I wanted to do more analysis, because I want to be able to be an accountant when I am done with school.

Make sure you document everything. Sounds like "they" are building up a case you move you out. All the signs are there:

- not giving proper training then acting like you are not doing your job
- not making you feel on the team then acting like it's something you did
- making negative remarks about you to others. Even if you did mess up something, it's between you and your manager, not for people to make smart remarks to your co-workers

If you haven't already worked on your resume, start brushing it up. Better to leave on your own terms than behind some BS.

If you haven't already worked on your resume, start brushing it up. Better to leave on your own terms than behind some BS. I agree with you on all points. And the resume stays brushed up. I've been slowly looking, but now I'm really going to look.

I should have just stayed where I was at, even though I was bored it was boredom w/o drama. Now I have boredom w/drama.

I should have just stayed where I was at, even though I was bored it was boredom w/o drama. Now I have boredom w/drama.

Unfortunately, every time I go to a new office, it's a crapshoot of what new BS I have to deal with. I just hope I can live with the new things that get on my nerves. I'm convinced there's no such thing as a drama free job. Only the degree of drama varies.

I know enough about myself to know what my limits are. I'm also established enough in my field to walk away when that line is crossed. If you know your walk away point, it's easier to deal with the littler daily BS.
