if anyone out there is a MAC user (i'm a MAC geek myself) check out the new iPod by Apple. its great. you can download music files and either attach your earphones and listen to your music or you can transfer the digital files to another computer. it can also hold pictures and images such as .tif and .jpg files. the one is saw has a 5 gig hard drive. i believe you can download movies on it as well. its very compact and fits in the palm of your hand. i think its about $400.
