i love sidestep cause its direct from the airlines and i can check multiple airlines against the rates the airlines give to orbitz and expedia.

i've noticed for american air, its cheaper on amer air's website. i'm willing to believe they do that on purpose.

Ummm, thank you HULA for expressing some of the features of that travel-planning option.

If I'm not mistaken, some of the fares are refundable/transferable and you should be able to combine some airline frequent flyer programs. . .it's all dependent upon the special.

some may not care, but for me, some websites don't allow you to pre-select your seats on purchase. i like pre-selection option because i know what part of the plane i prefer.

Just an FYI...

On most major carriers(American I know for sure) if you see the same fare cheaper on any of the other travel websites, they will price match PLUS give a $50.00 voucher good on a future trip. I really don't see the advantage of going through a 3rd party when you can do the booking, get the perks(bonus miles) and save yourself potential hassle.

And... I'm like Hula. I have to sit in a certain spot on the plane.

I have a reservation on hold with American Airlines for 268.40 military rate.

The only problem is, I can't fly into Sacramento until Friday the 12th and I can't leave until 12:30 am Monday morning. I am going to check military rates to Oakland and see if I can fly out on the 11th and leave on the 14th.

A point to be AWARE of in securing the cheapest flight is ACTUAL FLIGHT, NUMBER OF LAYOVERS & LAYOVER TIME TABLES.


In all actuality, paying $60 more is a no-brainer when you aren't sitting in someone's airport for a 4 hour flight change.

I've been in enough airports to know that max time is 2 hours and that's even a stretch at times. . .

I may just go ahead buy the $344 non-stop flight thru American Airline so that I can fly on the days that I want. I really don't want to have 2 layovers. But if that was the only way to get there, I would. I don't want to spend a whole day in airports. The only problem I have with the $268 military rate flight is that my flight doesn't leave Sacramento until 12:30 am. I wouldn't have anyone to take me to the airport at 11pm Sunday night. It wouldn't be right to ask someone to do that and I really don't want to get home at 5:30am and have to go to work that morning too.
