Fam, due to me having a burner, folks been asking me to burn CD's for them..I made about $40.00 at work, just hustling CD's to co-workers.
Now, I got software for sale plus the music. Just gotta keep it on the DL, don't want the manager to fire me for bootleg CD sales.

BAM!
The second CD Burner should be coming today:D So that means that I can churn out about 6 CD's per hour. I know I told Andre98 not to buy Bootleg CD's, but times done got hard and , I'll stop when they get a lil better for a brutha...until then, I'm on my grind/paper chase...
Ran into this brutha yesterday at the barbershop selling 5 CD's for $20. Do the math? that aint bad, so I boguth 5 CD's, then he gave me his card:D Nigga has a card yall!!!
Got the pager and celly on the mofo. So, I was thinking of buying the cd's from him and reselling them. I tested all 5 CD's and they were good.
Can you say supplimental income?

Can't knock the hustle but I think you're a little more creative and talented than to just copy someone else's work. . .take pride in your bootleggin'!! LOL . . .

aww come on now peoples, let's not get carried away with the bootlegging. how come we brothers and sisters have to go there?its second best! some of it is garbage! if you like a cd or a video, please ya'll go to the stores and pick it up. especially if its by our people. if we are going to support our peoples creativity, you can't do that by buying bootleg copies!! now i'm not totally innocent. i have bought one bootleg cd. it was a piece of crap and the inside sleeve was totally illegible.
i'm not trying to knock a brothers little side business, but if you have access to this and other technology, hopefully you can turn that into another form of income for you. how about teaching computers or a certain software somewhere? just a suggestion.
peace.....

I hear what you saying theartist...however, times are hard and if a brother is trying to get a little xtra by selling $5 CD's while saving me a little sumn sumn then I'm all for it.
Now I don't buy bootleg off of just some Joe on the street but I have a friend at work who burns them and now Admin so I ONLY buy from them. I know and trust that both will give me quality goods at a fair price...and it helps a couple of struggling brothers out.
And Yeah I know that the ORIGINAL artist is making less but they ain't gone miss no meals this month I assure you. ;)
By the way Admin....have you found Richard Smallwood Persuaded yet? And also when you do find it can I pay you through Paypal like I paid for my Hush membership??? :p

You know my quality is excellent. I have been burning CDs since 1997. Since audio is my life and I am a former DJ, my burns are done correctly.
Oh! and did I mention that I can repair your scratched CD's??

I understand and respect your point, I buy all my cd's from the record store and movies from the video store. . .in addition, to supporting black movies by seeing them in the theatre on opening weekend.
However, if I'm in the market for a nice mix cd or a slow jam cd. . .I'm going to have to go with the 'street corner entreprenuer'. . .And like Tastey, I know people who do excellent work (unlike the work I do myself but which I'm still satisfied with. . .)

Que, how do you burn?
Do you burn each track or the entire CD Image to your HD and then make copies from the image?

I found that I get errors whne I try to burn on the fly...so the sfaest way (for me) is to burn an image to mu HD, then make copies of the cd's from that image. Wokrs 100% of the time with no errors.

dude (you a dude, right?), maybe our "peoples" should take pride in not paying the jacked up prices for purchases at tower records...i mean, if you wanted to be pc (that's what you were aiming at, right?), encourage mom and pop shopping...
oh, and i take it you own no MIX tapes or cd's, huh? the ultimate form of bootlegging right there...and i take it you've never taped songs off the radio? maybe you've never converted vinyl to cassette or 8-track to cassette?
i'm out.

the industry has to cut it's losses. the artists may "suffer," but their true money comes from touring anyway. 10 points on a deal is nothing in the sales department, but $50 for a concert ticket, plus radio station kickbacks and advertisement is what makes the record business worthwhile.
they'll keep up there images. remember, you can rent a bentley for the day, just like they did.

in terms of artists not suffering, i am not too concerned about where their next meal is coming from but i do think we need to support them more to show some kind of solidarity. and bootleggin' ain't the way to do it. yes, they do make money off of tours but all of our artists are not on a single tour. ya'll know they just bunch us up in a group and put us on the road! if you have a true songwriter/composer artist, their money comes from a percentage of sales as the writer and therefore contributing to the entire cd. yes, i do have a mix tape or two, but they are legit. the stuff i've dubbed from cassette is stuff i already bought.
now looka here, i'm not putting anyone down about burning cds. i think more of us need to learn about using technology in this way. however, maybe i am just tired of us always having a 'hustle' with something that's not top quality. i get tired of seeing our brothers & some sistah's on the street selling cheap or underrated stuff. look at the cd covers for these things! most of them are copies from a xerox machine and they don't even finish copying the whole thing! maybe that's just my mind set. i'm in the marketing/advertising business so i am all about presentation. we are just better than that. let's use our resources and make it more productive and 'legal'. i'm somewhat of a computer geek myself (don't get it twisted - i'm cool as hell!) and i have the software/hardware to do the same but i don't use it for that purpose. as a matter of fact i want to learn even more and maybe teach somewhere locally some of the basics. i didn't say that to get an amen, i said that to make a point about using all this new information and sharing it. i mean its 2002 already and a lot of us, especially our older folk, don't even know how to get onto the internet!!! a lot of our small businesses don't know how to present themselves to their target audience in an attractive way to make them more lucrative. how many times have we seen a flyer for a new restaurant, hair salon, club event etc. that you can't even make out the faces or the text isn't lined up or stuff is spelled wrong.......c'mon! again, let's use what we know and share it and build together. now, can i get that amen?
much love.
(by the way, i am not a dude....)

I feel you on this, theartist, but that's whole nother thread and I could go on & on about it. I'm trying to educate folks in my area as I get my business off the ground (communications collateral development).
It's an uphill fight but I keep pushin'...
re: folks copying CDs - folks did it when we were all on the cassette thang...don't think it's ever gonna be stopped at that point. It would have to be the consumer saying "Naw, I don't want to get my music like that..." And I can't see that happening.

feeling you on the "each one, teach one" side, TA. folks do what they must and who am i to judge. teachin' the basics is a good idea and accomplishes a twofold need. skrilla in your pocket and knowledge in others' head. ujamaa!!
