The closest to the hotel location would be SFO.
Then theres OAK, SAC, and SJC. SJC is farthest out, but AA runs frequent fare sales out of DFW there.. I've seen it as cheap as 168 r/t. I wouldn't mind the scenic drive....

Shit it ain't but what, about 15 miles difference?SFO is a bigger airport, and out of D/FW anyway, it's stopping in Santa Ana and then flying on a crop duster to Fresno via Alaska Airlines. I ain't wid it.....

city to city... yea ok sfo is a good 30 miles at least from the hotel location
i'll leave this to ya'll cali folk and stick to Vegas
but um.. ya'll need to start answering folks questions... people coming from opposite ends of the country and what not.. people need to be in the know of what's what. Some of us like to actually plan and map things out, vs. waiting until the last minute.

Rock Okay. Um, I thought she knew a way to get there with which I was not familiar. LOL
Smaller airports are better to me (especially after my O'Hare fiasco). You definitely would not have to worry about getting lost in the Oakland airport that's for sure.

MBS where in the hell are you from. I live in Oakland, so answer that question again where are you from?
15 minutes my ass, SFO is in South San Fancisco, you dont know what the hell you are talking about. Have you ever drove in traffic from SFO just to get over the bridge, and after you get over that bridge it is between 25-50minutes depending on the traffic.
Now do you want me to tell you how long alone it can take to get to that bridge from SFO, are you kidding me. You are going to tell me about the Bay Area and your ass dont live here???
Talking that 15 minute crap from SFO to OAK, on what plane were you riding that took 15 mins to get between the two, cause you deff was not in a car. Put it this way I will bet my stock portfolio on you not making it in 15 minutes. At SFO you will spend 15mins just getting from the beginning of the on ramp to actually on the freeway.
Better yet you do me this favor, FLY YO ASS in SFO for the trip and make if from the airport to Hushnic. Not that it is not possible, but IMO you gonna be spending more time driving then you would from OAK or even Sacramento Airport.

My jobs Office is in Oakland and I have to fly people out there frequently and they do NOT want to coem into SFO because it takes damn near an hour is the traffic on the bridge is bad to get to the office. They prefer (Unless they have extended thier trip for personal time in San Fran) - to fly to the smaller airport.

SJC to Holiday Inn in Vallejo: 67.4 miles

Those are good stats, but they do not include the freeways that you will travel to get to Vallejo. You would want to be on 580 instead of 101 or 880 in my opinion, because traffic is usally better, that would mean you need to fly in Oakland.
Just a warning to the wise, thats all.

No doubt. . .I am well aware that 10 miles can easily take 30 minutes to navigate on California highways.
Another reason to perhaps be at a hotel closer to an airport? Or as you are suggesting flying into the closest AND least problematic airport.

Well...
I think that the driving distances to the hotel/motel/holiday in are not that big of an issue when you fly in...unless you fly in at the last moment. It may take longer or shorter depending on the number of drunks and foreigners on the road at any one time. Just get in as cheap as possible (regardless of SFO or OAK). If folks are not renting cars, if they are announcing when they are arriving...there may be some who are willing to help get you to your untimate destination.

Thar she blows! Honesty without tact. Right on schedule! lol!!
Well, If my post was the least helpfull, then your yahoo distances comes a close second...since bay area distances really don't mean much.
I am not on the planning committee. And I am not a 'wipe your ass' kinda person either. So I am not sure what your point is. However, I meant exactly what I said. Getting from SFO or OAK to Vallejo is not a big deal. CONCENTRATE on getting to Cali as cheap as possible and post your arrival time...or rent a car. I am sure that there are a few Bay area people that can help with the transportation or the logistics of getting where you want to go.

Hula is right! SJO is almost an hour from OAK or SJO, so I agree with the committee in that OAK and SJO would be the best bets...but hea...if we keep the communication open I am sure that we can work things out if somebody found a REALLY CHEAP flight into San Jose.

Unless you are going to be one of the ones on shuttle duty then I don't think it's very wise of you to tell people to just fly into wherever and worry about your transportation secondly.
That simply makes no sense to me, it all should be factored into the equation.
It would seem that you'd want to fly in closer to the hotel in the event of needing to cab it or hotel shuttle (I thought they said there was one available).
I tend to ask questions to get information put out there and I see it's worked and gotten folks to talking.
So, my job here is done. . .LOL.

It's good to have dialogue. So I agree. As for me, I am lending help based on when people arrive. So how I see it...folks should discuss and work on getting here. And when they figure out when they plan to arrive, post it...and if I can help, I will help.
