I go over to www.irs.gov and click on the link to the sites that are offering free online electronic filing.

For two years I've used H&R Block Online (but you have to go thru the IRS site to get it free) to file.

I file my State Taxes thru snail mail - that way when I'm astounded at how fast I've spent the Federal - I'll get a little surprise later on, lol

A friend from GTBF did mine this year. He has been doing taxes since i've known him and all this time he never said a word. He filed them electronic and they're due back in a few days.

Also, check with your credit unions or banks online.....I know Navy and State Dept have reduced fees.

Lynette this is what I did also. Except I used Taxact, but I went through the irs website link. If you don't use the irs link, they will charge you.

Also in SC they charge to e-file state. It was just 7 bucks so I paid it but you can print them and mail them if you don't wanna pay that.

The difference is you are not liable. That is big in itself.

Use a tax software, I would not file it with freeware.

I know you did Tastey, I am just telling others.....

TaxAct online is a software.

What type of freeware are you talking about and what is the issue with it?

The H&R Block site was their OFFICIAL SITE and I do recommend them if your life is not 'complicated' and you are not trying to 'fudge' or have 'selective memory lost' about filing, lol

It was very complete and I've received several emails from them at each step of the way and I was able to just transfer my last year information to this year since I maintained my user name and passcode from last year.

I was even able to participate in the sweepstakes they have been advertising online, lol I didn't win SHIT, but I participated, lol
