This is the time of year that you hear about clothing and coat drives, and the onset of cold weather makes it a more urgent concern, but we should be looking at giving any spare clothes all year 'round.

Seriously, even though this is in the joke section, the need is real.

Even better than giving to the Thrift shops, where a few cents might trickle back to the truly needy, go to shelters and organizations that are directly in touch with people that most in need.

Those shoes that have run down for the last time, the gloves you got for Christmas years ago that were too small, even the socks that have a little hole in them. It means a lot to someone with nothing.

Oh yeah, back to why this is in the thread where there's supposed to be humor....
There is a specific need that is more urgent than others...

I was all ready to talk about my time in the woman's shelter, my ex husband had destroyed all my and noodle's clothes, and they saved my life in more ways than one....after I had my surgery and dropped ten sizes, I started giving my clothes to them and I have seen a couple of big girls stylin! (this is a small town, okay???)

But then I scroll down to broke down Rupaul, ugh!!!!!!!

I give to Goodwill year round. When I do that spring cleaning of the closets to see what my son can and can't wear for the summer. What he can't wear goes to Goodwill or I send them to my mom and she gives them to someone who needs them at church. I sent her 3 boxes of clothes in July or August and she gave some old suits of my husbands to my cousin and the jeans and shirts went to a lady at church for her mentally challenged son. My mom said she was too happy to get them.

They are happy to get larger sized clothes, and we fit that bill in male and female. It's such a shame to see the drop off bins get ransacked by the drifters that can get in a pull stuff out. They throw a ton of clothes on the ground, and that then has to be discarded. To give to the trucks that do pick ups, or directly to the door of organizations ensures that it gets where its going. I have to get go my sneaky suspicion that if it looks too good, the worker is copping it for themselves, because, shit, if they are working that gig, they ain't faring too well themselves.
