Okay, so where were you in 1988, when you first saw Hammer's "Pump it Up" video?
I hadn't heard of Hammer yet, and Ralph Mc Daniels on Video MusicBox every Saturday broke out the latest and the greatest hip hop hits on video. He said he was "getting a lot of requests for this guy" and played this. It was a trip seeing the opening, with the RUN-DMC "look un-alikes" sobbing over being "dethroned". LMAO

Girl, don't tell me you were in Jr High in '88...(doing my calculations....) Lawd, that just don't sound right....I had been married two years by '88, and Hula was in Jr High?... What's worse, she is in Bay area and hadn't heard of Hammer's first hit yet? lol

In 1988 I had two kids by then, living in my own apartment and working for the company I am working for now, but in St. Louis.

getting out my own calculator...
oops... i was 16 and that was... end of 9th grade start of 10th grade i think... so i was in high school... MY BAD... but no, i don't remember that song... however, if i listened for it now it should ring familiar to me. though i grew up with rap, i was rotating Menudo and the likes on my cassette and record player!
i remember thinking back then that Hammer was tight and I would have went to a concert, for sure, but, never did, of course. There is only ONE rap album I remember buying and that was Digital Underground 'Sex Packet' (and that was years later and only after hearing the whole thing from my girlfriend!).
