What's up y'all?

I just found out that my current job is moving away. So now they are getting ready to layoff about 40 people that work in our building. I had this job for about 8 years. The industry that I worked in was printing and mail. I worked for MCI first then transition went on in to EDS.

So I'm looking forward to changing up jobs and maybe doing something different. I'm also considering going back to school and finish my degree so that I can make more money. I really don't know how unemployment works so I'm reseaching it now.

My goal right now is to possible look into getting a state job. So I'm on the grind filling out the the examinations to see what's going down with that.

So this will be very interesting for me.

Hey Cam, I'm sorry to hear this, and yet you are in a good position to move and groove and test the waters, not just in Sac or in Cali, but ANYWHERE in the world ;) ... Unemployment... you apply and you get 6 months. you have to jump through a few seminar hoops to gurantee that when you reapply you will get your another 6 months (they don't just give you a year anymore). hit me up and we'll talk more...

Thank you both for your words. I forgot to say I'm still there until at least the end of the year. I am going to try and get out of the mailing industry mostly because the internet is really going to be the next step in billing for alot of companies. I'm wide open right now just looking at the options and seeing what is out there.

The funny part is that my manager is trying to get people into other jobs working for other mailing companies. So we have been getting presentation after presentation. Got another one today. A start up company came in yesterday. And they were really a start-up company with 4 people.

sounds like a great opportunity...it's good to get in on companies when they are first starting.....

you might be around if it ever goes PUBLIC.....that's how so many folks made millions with microsoft......they were there from the start.

i am sure you will land on your feet. education NEVER gets old........you just have to decide what your over all goals are.

Thanks for the words and hints. I'm not stressing yet. I pray daily and do my best to do right by the creator. So I'm know that everything will come back. Karma is a good thing. I'm looking at this as a chance to do something new and bigger.
