That one is further away (3 exits lol)

and

$94 a night on expedia

The reason you all have a choice of Hilton or Extended Stay is not only the prices, but also the cleanliness. The amenities (hilton has it all, extended stay has very little, like, no pool or giftshop). Also they are close to each other and easier for ya'll to stay together and us to get to you all.

Before making your hotel reservations at a hotel different from these two, consult me or admin so we can tell you if its a good city choice. California cities are pretty spread out.

Is that the Ex. Stay America Fairfield - Napa Valley on Oliver Rd.? Thats the only one I saw for Fairfied.

The rooms look nice. Will they do group rates? Say if you get 10 or more people to stay there, will they give you a lower rate than 69.00 per night?

I plugged in AAA and I think it was 62.99 per night.....or was that Govt/military rate?????

Well I will make my reservations next summer. Hopefully the rates will be the same. I plan to arrive on a Thursday and leave Sunday morning.

HulaSista
11-13-2004, 04:49 PM
same one on oliver road

no group rates avail because the price is already low

i believe the guy said that even if the rate changes, it will always remain lower if you book via the internet.

HulaSista
11-13-2004, 04:52 PM
if you all find something cheaper, please verify the location with us first before booking. we don't want you in another county or another city or too far up the freeway in the same city. unless you're going to rent your own car, then, thats a different story; however, feel free to pm or call me or admin to make sure its a cool spot or in the same area of these two hotels.

Within every chain there are newer hotels so not all may have the "rating" someone is accustomed to stay at, that's why I've asked.

The Extended Stays are also prone to varying from location to location. I investigated some here that were less than 2 miles apart and they had completely different ratings and accommodations.

I'll probably stay at the Hilton because I have HHonors pts I can redeem or I may stay at another chain where I have points (Wyndham, Marriott)

Will there be a group rate? I checked last night.... 79 and 89.. and I believe the difference was the $79 rate was if you prepay in full. They have a really shitty cancellation policy. $25 bucks no matter when you cancel- just IF you cancel.. period. The industry standard is usually within 24-48 hrs, you cancel and there's no type of fee associated.

Maybe transportation is a separate thread but this will impact folks ability to participate and have the best maximum time.

Point to keep in mind: this isn't the French Quarter or Vegas where you can walk to any/everything. It's more like Atlanta & Orlando.

Unless, I've missed the posts about who's on shuttle duty, etc.

I can only say this, I am a big time liker of amusement parks, and Marine World is one of the best in the US. The rides are good, the animals are well taken care off and it has many things to do. I had hookup to get tickets for about $20 from a dude, but I just saw where I can get them for $25.00 for the day.

$25 bucks is a good price for this park, and frankly I say we can go but then again when I looked at how much time we had in my "Budget of Hushnic" draft, I dont know if we have the time to do it.

You are about to make me hurt you.

I'm over here saying: If this nigga, don't quit answering Q4!!!!!

Anyway, I'm just thinking that the hotel should be in proximity to where we plan on going. . .not just near someone's house.

In ATL we went to BG's for Hushnic and that was a drive but I'm thinking if we had stayed out by her house in a hotel and then did the other things we did. . .it wouldn't have made sense.

I'm just trying to get a feel for what's supposed to be going on here.

I know some of the prelim plans were to go to SF and that hotels a decent distant from there to be travelling, isn't it?

I already feel that the limited vehicles and folks maybe not wanting to drive will play a big factor.

Q1: What Was/is The General Criteria For Picking Hotel Offerings? To What Are We Trying To Be In Proximity? Are We Just Trying To Be Centrally Located For Convenience Of Airports? Are We Thinking In Relation To Where Activities Are Going To Take Place?

We chosed by city first based on hotel prices and what you will get for your money. We discussed putting you all up in SF and Oak but parking is daily and is expensive for those who would rent; the hotels in SF are smaller and more expensive. Oakland... big town and not too good areas around the airport. To get a nice decent hotel we guessed you would have paid upto or over 100 a night and didn't know if that was fair. Plus, if you were not renting, cab or shuttle would still run you $12 - 20 per trip from the airport. (Guess-e-mation)

THURSDAY: We didn't plan anything for Thursday since that is usually the relax and chill day. because those of us who offered to pick some of you up from the airport live the furthest away, we hoped it would be fair that you all stay closer to where we live so we won't have to commute to your hotel or rent a hotel in our own state (its not a pleasant drive).

FRIDAY: We only planned ONE day in SF for that friday, and you all will get there by ferry boat ($10 one way) or car (have not decided; based on how many people show up); then we will have dinner in Oakland that night . We hope to have enough cars to help everyone out even if it means everyone pitching in on a rental van. But nothing is concrete yet.

SATURDAY: Saturday is hush live at Admin's house and that's a 20-25min drive from Vallejo in Fairlfield.

SUNDAY: Nothing planned for Sunday except an impromptu breakfast if everyone is available.

Q2: What Is This Distance From The Other Two Hotels In Relation To This Holiday Inn?

20 minutes between vallejo and fairfield hotel selection - (fairfield is further from SFO and OAK, but, closer to SAC)

Q3: I'm Assuming There Are Other Hotel Offerings In This Vicinity. Can We Get A "mini-listing" Of Several Other Hotel Chains To Choose From? I'm Checking Independently And Will Post A Listing For The Purposes Of Finding Out The Actual Locales.

Here is a list of hotels in Vallejo that you can SAFELY stay:

Comfort Inn
(707) 648-1400 1185 Admiral Callaghan Ln

Days Inn
(707) 554-8000 300 Fairgrounds Dr

Holiday Inn Vallejo
(707) 552-9049 1000 Fairgrounds Dr

Motel 6
(707) 642-7781 458 Fairgrounds Dr

Motel 6
(707) 643-7611 1455 Marine World Pkwy

Quality Inn
(707) 643-1061 44 Admiral Callaghan Ln

I wouldn't want you all anywhere else in Vallejo. Discuss with us your transportation situation so that we (me) can help you decide what is best. (if you need shuttle service, you'll need to do door to door and i don't know what that cost; or shuttle to holiday in and catch a cab/someone give you a ride)

Q4: On A Scale Of Say 1-10......how Likely Is It That We Will Be Going To "wally World" Aka Six Flags Marina? I Just Want To Go On Record Saying That If This Is A Compensating Factor, Perhaps It Shouldn't Be.........when Chances Are (and More Importantly Hushnic History Shows).........we Probably Won't Even Go There???
In Addition, I'm Mildly Concerned About Staying In A Hotel Which Is Near An Amusement Park In The Middle Of Summer.

the choice to go there is up to you. admin didn't choose this hotel solely for that reason neither did we plan to go here.

*************************************************

You all can stay where you feel most comfortable. If you feel better staying near the airport in Oakland or SF, then, you can. This is just a choice based on what we discussed at the lil regional. Just know that there is a lot of driving either on us or on you to get to where ever the group wants to circulate, and personally, you all can vote on what you want to do thursday, friday and saturday and decide for yourselves what city you will stay in. Just know that you will need a car, or some money for public transportation to get around and there is 7 days a week traffic on all highways and all streets in SF and nothing is a quick drive or ride to any other point!

If you all decide you want to stay in Oakland, choose a hotel in downtown

If you all decide you want to stay in SF, choose downtown, fisherman's wharf or union square area.

additionally, you don't have to do anything we planned. you can use this time for vacation and hang out with us for dinner on one of these days or hushlive on saturday.

this is your vacation. do what you feel comfortable. if you stay out in oak or sf, make sure you have a ride to get to hushlive at admin's house in fairfield.

i really think you all need to decide ONE hotel you want to stay (if not vallejo) or else we'll have people in 10 different locations far away from each other.

look below for my SF or OAK recommendations. these recommendations are also based on accessibility to public transportation to get around in and out of cities.

san bruno and anything near sfo will have you mad on gas and time to drive. traffic is unpredictable.

i think we do have too many choices.....CA is a big area.......

I think IMO that ONE place and airport needs to be picked.

Say this were folks staying and you should fly in here.....

I'm not sure it's too many choices but I'd just like to have an idea of what "might" happen is all. . .ya'll know how I do (my own thing) by now.

I'm coming.

I only plan on attending the Hushlive session.

I will fly into SFO and probably stay in SF. Of course, I'm renting my own vehicle.

if we tell you ONE airport, someone will complain that its cheaper at the other airport

we did tell you which hotel and you pulled up hotels in SF lol

so its really simple: ya'll decide... we will decide what we will do in regards to our own cars and houses and tell ya'll how best to get around based on where you're staying.

if money isn't an object, then, you can pretty much stay whereever you want at whatever cost, and pay for the transportation conveniences.

OR

if you want to save, we can show you how to you short cut that dependant on where YA'LL decide to post your hotel.

if you don't want to rent, there are airport shuttles/cabs/and bart (train) to go anywhere in the bay area... long as you got some money and time to spend :D

tee... just for you, sense you said you are coming a couple of days early (and anyone else who wanted to do this), i suggest you get a hotel in SF (fisherman's wharf, union sq or downtown - no where else!) then that thursday morning, check out we'll pick you up or you drive/train it if the official hotel is anywhere else outside of SF.

i'll go out to dinner with ya on that mon/tues/wed night and give you tips on things to do during your day hours since all of us will be at work (i'm the only one who works in sf)

we'll exchange phone numbers the week before flight travel.

Hey, there are two homes on my street for rent. One is directly next door. Its has the following: New Tile floors, new counter tops, new carpet, new paint. The other home is dopwn the street about 5-6 houses down and short walk.

Both do not have any furniture, but if yall want, I could check to see if they could be rented for 3 days. I think the rental is about 1600 a month so, this should be under $60 a day for the 3 days and if yall do not mind sleeping bags..then this might work???

I know this is not Orlando, but this is an option. Lemme know if yall want me to call the property management co and check into anything.
