Fam, yesterday my manager caught a co-worker of mine asleep at work.

Scenerio: We work in a call center and she was training a new employee (double jacking) how to take calls. Well the new employee (a guy) was talking to the customer, my co worker fell asleep.

Now, our manager has written her up several times for shyt, but this is major!

Heres what made it sooooo bad, my manager stood in front of her cube and stared at her for about 5-10 seconds before she woke up and the first words she spoke when she came to were"

"Am I in trouble?"

Needless to say, she is in the hottest water you can be in, 'bout to be looking for a new job.

My manager and I speak and she came to me and told me about what happened and that she was fed up with my co worker.

I told her that she had to do what she thought was necessary. I could see that she was looking for me to validate her firing this girl, I could also see that as a black woman/mom, she did not wanna fire another black woman/mom before the holidays.

I offered to talk to my coworker, but my manager told me not to.

Now, what would you do if you were my manager?

A: Fire her
B: Give her one mo chance?

(this is like the 3rd incident in 8 weeks)

I'd talk to her. Find out why she is so tired that she's falling asleep at work.

Maybe she's working 2 jobs trying to pay for Ray-Ray's Christmas or something. Maybe she has family in the hospital and she was there most of the night.

or Maybe she's a lazy f*ckup who needs to be fired, but I would at least talk to her first. Find out what's going on with her. Where her head is at.

Maybe if the manager talks to her and explains to her that she is doing her a favor by not firing her she'll appreciate it enough to do better.

Does the co-worker have a sleeping disorder? I can't remember the name of it, but a guy I worked with would fall asleep in meetings. If he sat too long without moving or having anything to do, he would doze off.

If its her 3rd time, I don't know if I would give her another chance. Has the manager tried to find out if maybe there is a disorder, or is she not getting enough rest, is she moonlighting, etc.?

I wouldn't fire her right away.. Has she had any written warnings? Sometimes the written warnings do more justice than just a verbal one.. Especially if it says the next time you are out! :hammer

Fam, I really do not know what the issue is with my coworker, all I can tell you is:

A: She has lost company property and had to pay for it out of her check.

B: Been late to work on several occasions.
C: Eats in her cubicle all day, after being warned not to.
D: Has fallen asleep in class and now on live calls.
E: Gotten into vebal fights with other coworkers.
F: Takes about half the amount of calls (in a 8 hour shift) as everyone else.
G: Thinks everything is funny.
H: After her last write up she said to me that she was gonna quit because they were too strict around here....and word got back to my manager about her comments.

Now, I do not know if my manager will look into any sleeping disorder, but the shyt has hit the fan and I'll either see her on Monday or not.

Not everyone get's it!!!!....work is for working...and sleeping and being lazy is for being at HOME!!!

especially since she's been warned...

Well I didn't know she had broken other rules, and since that has come to light, I would probably put her on probation for a couple months. If she made one more mistake within her probation period, then she would be making her way to the unemployement office:(

Sounds like sista girl needs to seek employment elsewhere. How many chances and opportunities does one person deserve? Looks like she's used all of hers up.

LMAO

this sounds similar to me! and yet i may be on the verge of getting fired they need my ass toooooooooo damn bad!

plus, i am taking tests to see if i have a sleeping disorder that contributes to my sleepiness and uh uh uh uh constant frstration and anger at folks here at the job. but i pull 20 times the work others do here. so, they can't say anything to me.

she should talk to her. just to see what is up. never know.

the talk was sposed to happen two or three messups ago. but its all in the style of management. it seems that this manager would rather gossip and talk to other employees about the problem than take action.

i am the managers boss...i am watching this situation and i am about to fire the manager....or demote the manager....

in fact...i'm gonna demote the manager and put admin in her place!

Instead of taking care of the situation... The manager is gossiping about her with other coworkers.. That right there is a big no-no in the supervisor code of ethics and if homegirl ever found out that the manager was telling her business, then the manager will be the one without the job! :hammer

Came in to work today and was told that my manager fired her last night!

Hmmm, thanks que for the kudos, but I'm cool! Oh and this woman was written up before and given a few chances. Looks like she was not cut out for the job.

Now, I'm watching my ass. I do not need to be JOB-less for the Holidays. Although, I know I'm safe, I will still be on my XTRA good behavior in the weeks to come.
