What is a reasonable curfew for a 16 yr old girl?!?!??!
How often shoud a teenager should be allowed to "Go OUT'?!??!
Also why do most folks treat boy's and girls different when it comes to going out! Boy's can get into just as much trouble as girls sometimes maybe even more?!?!

My daughter is 16 and her curfew is 12:30. We let her stay out until 1:00 on special occassions.

Right now she is just doing the sports games and sometimes maybe go to a party after that. She goes to the mall to "hang" out and go to the movies. Every now and then, she will want to go to Lone Star Park to go to a dance they have for the teenagers.

I don't know why boys are treated different. I guess because if your girl goes out and get pregnant, then she brings that baby home to you. If your son gets someone pregnant that baby goes home to her parents. I know its not right, but some people think like that. I have always preached to my oldest son not to make any babies he can't take care of. So far, he has made it to the age of 22 without any kids.

12:30...that has to be because of where you live.....and is that a school night

When my son comes off his dentention is curfew will be 8pm on school nights and 10:30 weekends, he has to earn a later curfew.

He will be 17 come January.

Just curious! What would a 16 year old girl be doing out after 10:30pm? Probably having sex with a 21 year old boy.

I had to call my mom on this one.

and she said curfew was street light until age 18, then at 18 it was midnight except me, cause i was a mother...and there was no reason for me to be out with my child at that hour.

She says in this age no child should be outside on the street after 11pm.

my baby loves me so much that she will never ever ever want to go out with her friends...espcially boys.:)

I wish.

I grew up in a very strict home... and was never able to go out until I left home at 18, so i think that i will be a little relaxed when it comes to this aspect of parenting. But i know as long as she is under my roof she aint coming in after midnight...unless it's special occasions. 18, 21, 55...i dont care. I dont want to have to be worried about where she is...or is not.

The curfew is for the weekend only. Through the week she is usually home with me unless I decide to let her go to a football or basketball game and then she has to come home immediately after. Usually I am the one picking her up because I don't always let her drive to those functions.

When I was her age, my curfew was either 11:30 or 12:00. I can't remember. If I came in at 12:02, I was on punishment for a lengthy time. Moms didn't play that late shit.

I trust my daughter, and she knows if she fucks up, she is in the house until the age of 18. Girlfriend likes to go to much to be stuck in the house. She usually abides by my rules and she has to call home while she is out too.

my parents were strict...they didnt really like the idea of me just out in the street hangin out....

but i will adopt some of the shit they did to me:

1. curfew is 10pm unless you are at a school function....then u must be home 15-30 minutes after the function

2. u don't go out on school nites

For my son when he is old enough to drive he can go on dates. Not a minute before. If you can't drive yourself you don't need to be dating. IMHO.

Curfew...on school nites (where ya going? if it's a school sporting event home immediately after.) otherwise ain't nowhere else you need to go.

On weekends. 11pm.

For my future daughter...the same rules will apply.

HUH?????
And she cant be doing the same thing before 10:30????

IMHO..... The time a teenager comes in does not make it harder for her to get pregnant.... Hell if they want to they can skip school and get her grove on....

I had a 1 am Curfew and it was all good... Its about respect and maturity...If your child respects your rules and is mature enough to handle him/herself I say 12:30, 1 is a good time.....

I have a teenage daughter (15) and I'm beginning to address the curfew issue. The latest she can be out on the weekend is 11PM.

True, but can you really give a teenager opportunity to get into trouble. You should trust your child but after 10:30pm there is more of chance of something bad happening than good. Maybe it's were I live. Where I'm from the wolves come out at 10:30pm & you need to keep lil' red riding hood in the house.

the question is...

what is open after 10?
what is available to 15 year olds after 10?

i am going to be awfully inquisitive with my kids...i will trust them....but at the same time....i will want them to be open and honest with me. if they are over at jimmy's house because jimmys parents are out of town....i wanna know!

I usually ask to speak to Jimmy or Jane's parents if my daughter is going to a house party. I want to make sure an adult will be at the house.

There are places here in Dallas that have dances for teenagers. Sometimes my daughter will attend one. Mostly though she goes to the movies and to the mall. Since the mall she frequents have a movie theater, thats where she is.
