Why ??? and at what age does one start wearing a HAT to church??...who made up that "Black-Folk" Rule????...all I can think of is Rickey Smiley on BET and his Sunday Church wearing Hat routine and laugh my ass-off....

Once again Sistuh Chey just ain't feelin it.....
Rhinestone hats, shoes, and suits...in colors of red, turqouise and purple........WHY???

Whatever happened to basic Black, Taupe, Leather, suede...must we always look like a Easter Parade????

I'm with you Chey. I can't stand those church lady hats that look like Easter Sunday everyday. LOL :D

I loved when Rickey Smiley did that. It was hilarious.

My church is more casual it's rare to see a lady in a hat. But I've been to some where I pity the fool sitting behind those things cuz they can't see jack!!! LOL :p

Yall know we go all out when it comes to our "sunday go to meeting attire"..

I'm a long wayyyyyy off from wearing a HAT to chuch...I don't think I will be ready for that until I'm at least 65

I will probably never wear one. I don't like hats on my head. I only wear a baseball cap when I am having a bad hair day. I didn't even wear winter hats when I lived in St. Louis and its cold there in the winter.

My mom wears her hats, but very nice and tasteful hats. Nothing like what Ricky Smiley was modeling. She looks good in them too.

My mother is a Milliner... A Hat Maker by trade.. She hasn't made hats for years but prior to the late 60's Hats were a great part of a persons wardrobe. Old school people wore a hat with their outfits. Old school folks believe in a church wardrobe and these studded up hats are just a competitive part of it.

I don't know who made up the rule but the church I attend doesn't have radical hat wearers. I see some nice ones though.

but I know that the church I grew up in {C.O.G.I.C.} used to loves them some hats. . .all year round. . .velvet & wool in the winter. . . linen & straw in the summer. . .and don't even go there with Easter Sunday. . .

. . .ain't no woman hardly going to take off her MATCHING brim or sit in the back of the church. . .that would defeat the purpose.

I doubt that I will ever wear them, I just don't have a hat head. My mother wore them every now and then, and the church my parents went to were big on hats. There was a lady that used to wear one that was about a foot tall. Sit behind her, and you couldn't see a thing!
