In my journey to weight loss and fitness, yoga was suggested to me to increase my flexibility, and to reduce my level of stress. I watched Inhale the other day and struggled through a couple of poses, but quickly realized that I needed something that moved alot slower!

I bought a video from ebay, called beginning yoga for dummies (lol) which I heard was very good, that it goes through the daily dozen and explains each pose very slowly. I have watched wai lana a few times, and find her cool calm delivery while she literally turns her body into a pretzel awesome and hilarious at the same time. She is my shero!

Anyone practicing yogo? Give me some tips and suggestions please!!!!

no i haven't! everyone here in cali (it seems) does yoga. its like a spiritual thing or something. i've thought about it, but, rather, would prefer to find one that is christian base (lol! is that possible? i need to go look!)

I wouldn't say that I pratice yoga, but I have done it a few times. The only tip that I can think to give is to focus on your breathing. That helps you get deeper into the postures and yes in time you will become more flexible.

And like Ice-c said, yoga ain't no joke. You get a real workout from it that's for sure.

I did better when I took the class at my gym but the instructor left. I have a couple of tapes from Rodney Yee but the total workout with warmup and cool down is only 20 minutes each.

My instructor had an hour class which actively flowed. That's the key to getting the full benefits because you are constantly in motion.

Honestly, it's hard for me to do a routine without an instructor because I'm not very good at doing a flowing sequence. So, basically I can do the sun saluation, flexibility, balance and then I work out some pose combinations that we used to do in class like the warrior pose sequences.

If you want a book that explains a lot here's a good one that explain step by step how you get into poses. . .I've also got some links I'll look up and post separately.
