...so I am not sure I can be of any help TBH. I just dove in to get my feet wet, as I always do after hesitating with my techno-phobias.

I signed onto www.madeformusic.com and I am using a server called WinMx. I am absolutely hooked. Spent every waking hour this past MLK weekend downloading MP3s. Found some obsure stuff too. It lets you search across many other servers. I can see now why the music industry is so up at arms. There are millions doing this constantly!

Of the software that allows the ripping of CDs into MP3s, and the burning of MP3s into CDs, www.musicmatch.com has a free "jukebox" player/recorder that blows to hell the Real Player, and the Windows Media Player, though I like Win Media Player's WoW audio enhancement feature on playback. You can't beat free CD to MP3 and MP3 to CD creation though.

Music Match lets you do both actions for free. The pay version keeps getting thrown in your face through pop ups, but the pay only gets you a faster speed. It creates the MP3 at 128kbs ( I just started this weekend, I need to see if that's adjustable, but it sounds fine as is.)

That's all I know. Damn my ass hurts from sitting at the PC all day for 3 days!

Morpheus...

Real Player Sucks...
Windows media player better.. MP3 has better sound.

Your company may have a firewall for real player.
