I have to work from home tomorrow, because my car just went out on me this morning and is in the shop. (That's $396 ou the saving account!)

For those of you who are afforded the luxury of working from home sometimes - how many hours do you actually put into working. Do you get up and get dressed etc? Do you have to show some proof you are working or call in or something?

I have to log into my AOL messenger that I just use for work (and my daughter to talk to her cousins). We all use it at work and it's a requirement by my boss. I will also work a couple of hours - alot of my work that I bring home isn't on the computer, but I will be available all day by cell phone or house phone since I use a cable modem and I will answer a few emails and talk to a few managers you know to let them know I am sitting here working and.....watching Maury, lol

I got the opportunity to do that only once this past year when we experienced a severe ice storm and my office which is 24/7 was forced to close.

However prior to closing I was there because I live 3 blocks away, so I was given a cell phone and lap top to take home and work on.

It was easy cus all I had to do was wait for the phone to ring, take the information and email it to someone else. Since it was the evening I didn't get alot of calls so I could basically just sit and watch TV.

I'm a procrastinator so if I had some REAL work to do from home I'd probably chill, nap, and then at the last minute try to rush and do it all. lol

I get more work done working from home...in LESS TIME. Because it is my own business I tend to work harder.....and sometimes LONGER.

It's a pain being so accessible to people though.......I've GOT TO GET an answering machine.....and just TURN THE RINGER off. But the problem is...turning off the ringer...COULD LOSE ME MONEY!

We don't want that. :D

the contrast was that when i was working from home with booz allen...I didnt really have a lot to do.......PERIOD...so working from home was when i racked up SERIOUS hush posts....I would sit on the hush and debate back and forth ALL DAY....EVERYDAY.....

It depends on the work load. Sometimes I will work all weekend, putting in atleast 8 hours of real work. But at times when it is slow I might only get in 4, depends on the project. It all balances out, but a true self - employed person would need to market sometimes so it requires you leaving the house sometime. I dis like this time the most cause I am not directly making money, until someone signs that contract :)
