ok l2l.

1. first row, second pic is on juice.

2. second row, first pic is on juice. second row second pic is questionable.

3. how do i know this. because i lift and i am a personal trainer.

4. continued steroid use will impact the size of a man testicles. as they no longer have to produce any or as much testosterone they will shrink. perhaps they can return with therapy but that is a long and arduous process. it also cause acne and can seriously impact the cardiovacular system, speicifically the heart.

5. besides the health effects, steriods have a huge impact on someone physiologically. they become very aggressive and have steriod rages. and many have been known to beat the hell out of people including the women in their life.

6. steriod users don't have to be super huge but there are some key indicators in the pics that i mentioned above and some that i chose not to mention as they are borderline.

7. it is expensive but very prevalent.

Steriods decrease the libido, and shrink the genitals for men and do the oppersite to women.

1. first row, second pic is on juice.

I'll concede on that one. Could go either way. One over-used example is my future husband/love-slave Skip LaCour www.skiplacour.com

2. second row, first pic is on juice. second row second pic is questionable.

Still disagree. Seen too many guys over the years in this type of shape with no juice.

3. how do i know this. because i lift and i am a personal trainer.

This is good. We need more of you. I've been a member of several of the "top" (most visible?) commercial gyms over the past 20 years, and there are VERY FEW Black trainers. I met some people during the Discovery Challenge who wouldn't seek help or even follow a program on TV because there weren't Black trainers involved. Had me checking into ISSA, NSCA, and ACE, but I really don't think I'm enough of a people person to succeed in that arena.

I have no reason to doubt your breadth of knowldege or experience right now, especially after seeing your pic.

4. continued steroid use will impact the size of a man testicles. as they no longer have to produce any or as much testosterone they will shrink. perhaps they can return with therapy but that is a long and arduous process. it also cause acne and can seriously impact the cardiovacular system, speicifically the heart.

True. BOYS was my euphemism for testicles. :) Yes, I'm sure that there are some people who never return to their original functionality for one reason or another, but that is not necessarily the rule. Yes, improper use can cause all sorts of problems, especially if the man starts too young, but I was only addressing Rock's comment "Steroids=Little ROCKs".

5. besides the health effects, steriods have a huge impact on someone physiologically. they become very aggressive and have steriod rages. and many have been known to beat the hell out of people including the women in their life.

I personally haven't experienced this. But have heard stories. But I've heard far more stories (and experienced personal situations) of men beating the hell out of people/women where it had nothing to do with sterioids. Usually involved alcohol or just being a mentally-imbalanced jerk.

6. steriod users don't have to be super huge but there are some key indicators in the pics that i mentioned above and some that i chose not to mention as they are borderline.

True. Which I guess may have been my underlying, unstated (I admit) point. Why go through the expense or risk of steroid cycles if these types of physiques can be built with proper training and eating?

7. it is expensive but very prevalent.

True. Which leads to another question I have for you in the next post. ;)

What do you think of the pending legislation to ban all pro-hormones?

What do you tell your clients when they ask for cycle information?

Do you have women clients and what do you think of their use of steroids or pro-hormones?

Steroids and various forms of pharmaceutical enhancement have been used in sport for decades. All sports. There are some, myself included, who believe that bodybuilders are unfairly singled out by the DEA, etc. (Presumably because of their visibility.) What say you?

1. i think pro-hormones should be banned in sports including body building. if a substance is not naturally created in the body it should not be used to enhance athletic performance. however, if medical patients benefit from use i feel that they should be able to use them under a doctor's care.

2. i tell them that they do not need steroids and that there are better ways to acheive thier goals. i often point them to creatine, glutamine, glucosamine and a good multi-vitamin. i then explain the benefits of these items and tell them that they all naturally occur in the body. then i tell them how to use them. most of them end up happy. those that don't usually didn't follow my directions.

3. 90 percent of the people i train are women. men think they know it all when it comes to working out. until they get a session with me. i tell women the same thing i explained above. also, most women do not want to lift because they think it will make them big and bulky like men. then i have to explain to them that they do not have the testoterone or (usually) the genetics to get a man's build. and that they will increase their metabolism, improve their skeletal muscle strength and increase their bone density by lifting. many women can avoid osteoporosis simply by adding weight training to their workouts instead of 2 hours of cardio everyday.

4. bodybuilders are unfairly singled out. but when you have dudes as big as ronnie coleman running around it is kind of deserved. i respect his work in the gym but when a dude has lats that are litterally hanging off of his back that it ridiculous. imo, steroids should be illegal in all sports and strictly enforced. the U.S. track team is about to take a loss because of this situation. and i know that you know about the eastern european countries that have been stripped of medals before. if stricter testing were done and more athletes had morals about this average people wouldn't be looking for andro in a ballys.

Unfortunatley, the legislation would ban them for everyone, not just comeptitive athletes.

True, I've been using these things for years. I also throw in some MSM for my joints. I agree that people don't need steroids or other aids to look good, but they don't need boob jobs, liposuction or viagra either. Everything carries risk.

Too funny. I remember women having this fear when I was doing first workouts back in '83. Sad that it still persists today. If it was as easy as they thought, I'd be Lenda Murray right now. :D

True, Ronnie's GH gut is out of control. But, like you said, the people using steroids and other aids aren't always the biggest. So until all professional sports (even the ones generating millions of dollars for the corporate sponsors and owners) are willling to institue and enforce random testing, bodybuilders need to be left alone.

Gammite, do you have any of the popular certifications? I'm not sure I'd ever get into the training field, but I find the subject matter interesting and was thinking of doing one for the heck of it. I'm leaning towards ISSA or ACE. (My original college major was Kinesiology.)

i was looking for the question in this post....

still looking...but will now comment.

1. Who gives a crap what others do? if they choose to steroid...that's on them.
2. Who gives a crap what others do? if their nuts shrink...what does THAT have to do with me?

I would hope that if you do steroid yourself...that you body makes you some money...but even if it doesnt, it has NOTHING whatsoever to do with me.

Hello Ice,

This thread was the impetus. Not really a question I guess, just didn't want to turn an eye candy thread into a debate about steroids.

I guess I'm confused. Since you didn't use the quote function it appears that you're comment pertains to the entire thread, not an individual post.

And,

unless the person is trying to be a professional athlete...why should i care that they bulk up in this manner?

you are correct. You shouldn't care. Unfortunately, our legislators don't agree.

l2l,

i am ACE certified and Bally B-Fit certified. I am looking into doing others.

ice,

the problem with folks taking steroids is that many folks think that these people have attained these physiques naturally. i really don't care if joe schmo uses steroids but i do care that ben johnson, tim montgomery, or theoretically sammy sosa or barry bonds does. people take the feats that people like the afforementioned have performed as things that a natural human can achieve. if they are on steroids then that is all bs.

on top of that you have children and adults attempting to achieve these same results. once they realize they cannot they either lose faith in attempting to do their best or they start juicing. that is bs.

and ice, many folks do not realize the damage they are doing to their bodies by juicing. continued use causes terminal problems down the line. that is why it is imperative that information be put out there about the dangers of pro-hormones.

now there are certain substances that do not require the scrutiny placed upon them.

1. creatine - energy for muscles that helps to develop stronger, bigger (men) and more dense (men & women) lean muscle tissue.

2. ephedrine - a very effective fat burner.

but that is a whole other thread.

oh and i even hate to bring this into this discussion because i hate when someone says it is all about the children.

when teenage boys see these grown men with these bodies they tend to want the same type of bodies and will use drugs to get the body without realizing the dangers they put themselves into.

it is like teenage girls and boob jobs. i am against boob jobs. and i hate when i hear young girls talk about they want one. it infuriates me.

same thing with teenage boys talking about they want to look like lee haney or flex wheeler or jay cutler.

athletes, body builders, rap artists, rock artists, movie actors, and television actors need to act accountable for the images that they have young people trying to emulate.

i put that i didnt see the question to cover myself just in case there was a question.

then i commented.

i realize that the govmint will legislate everything if we allow them too....but in reference to these pics...and whether or not it really matters ....

i think not.
