View Full Version : I am NOT normal!

This may seem strange, but I often feel like I am just not normal.
This is kinda difficult to explain, because I have never touched on this topic to anyone. I just feel that I am a very unique person. I sometimes get caught smiling in public for no reason. I'm not the happiest person in the world, but I pretty much feel blessed with having a job, going to school, family, and friends.
Although I have had friends all of my life, I feel that I stick out like a sore thumb. I was often teased and basically ostracized about it in some of elementary school and in junior high school. I felt so bad about being unique that I tried so hard to fit in and to be down.
But there are times when people do think that I am crazy.
It hit me today. I said to myself, "You know what, Rai? You just have to be yourself. Don't care about what other people think." I say I'm OK. I am cool with not living up to the status quo or being normal.
I just have to be who I am.

i'll be honest with u...
i hate it when somebody says "u remind me of..." or somethin like that...i pride myself on being unique.
i would advise that u relish in your ability to be...UNIQUE.

Hmmm...this is interesting. It is good that you can appreciate your unique personality. I think we all have some quirkiness in us, I know that I do.
Strange that you mention this about smiling, all this week, I have been looked at like I am on the edge of insane because I have had this smile on my face! At work on Monday, I had to fire 2 people, which usually depresses me big time, but an hour later, there I was smiling, much to the nervousness of my co workers...lol Yesterday there was a staff meeting, most boring part of my day. But I sat there and smiled the entire hour, to the point that the library director kept looking at me during her lecture and grinning at me, to the point of losing her place...lol
I am not sure what has brought on this wave of happiness, but I hope I never lose it!!!

The crazy ones are the ones that do everything they can to "fit in".

Rai, I feel where you're coming from. Don't let society or anyone else make you feel that there's anything wrong with you. Be yourself and in doing so, strive to be the best that you can be spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. The only person's happiness that you can control is your own.

that's good to know that i will not be chastised for just being me. it's the main message that i will tell everyone--just be yourself.
