Do you feel close to your family, or do you just feel like an outsider?

I have always been close with my maternal family... my paternal family is another story when it comes to cousins...

I've always felt close to my family. I feel closer to my maternal side of the family than the paternal. I guess because the maternal side is always having get togethers and family reunions. The paternal side only see each other at funerals.

I was always close with my Dad's nephew & nieces and their kids because we all stayed in the same small town and I was always at their houses. But other than them, I am not close with any of the others.

I'm very close with my maternal side.. My biological father, I seldom speak to .. And both of his parents are dead.. I only know him, his sister, and her two kids from his family and I haven't talked to my aunt or her kids in years... :rolleyes:


My stepfather - who raised me.. I speak to often.. We are close.. But I'm not with his family.. I haven't spoken to them or seen them in over 10 years.. I don't think they like me or my mother and I don't give a damn!! :blah: :fu

not close with them at all, for the most part, none of them are here where I live.

Since losing my mom, I have tried getting closer to my first cousin, my only family here. His dad and my mom were brother and sister. But his mom is white, and he is passing for white now, so I am his dirty little secret...he has a white wife and a white son, who know nothing about me and the fact that he is half black. Fucked up aint it?

i am very close to my 5 sisters, 10 nieces, 4 nephews and my mom and her boyfriend...

and in my case it has nothing to do with geography. I have developed more tolerance over the years but the close bond and more than just obligatory duties of a child as far as seeing to their needs . . .I am hard-pressed to feel. I'm praying hard on this one.
