Satilite radio is pretty cool, but I live in the bay area and have some pretty strong radio stations. So I don't see an immediate need or interest to plop down more monthly fees just to listen to radio. And we know that the commercial free-ness will proably not last forever. And anyway, I really don't have a problem with commercials. If I didn't want commercials, I will play my mp3s. I don't travel much in my car these days and I don't find myself listening to the radio at home. And if I did want to listen to music at home, I can always play my mp3s or even play the music choice songs on my comcastic cable box.

i have sirius and it is worth it to me.
12.95/month to hear diverse songs from a number of genres is worth it to me. some days i feel urban, others i feel classical, some i feel jazzy and others i feel like gospel, etc.....
i have had sirius since it came out i used to do alot of traveling by car but now my commute is only about 1 hour roundtrip.
another plus is that you can listen to sirius for free on your computer. it is unlimited with a subscription and if you have a laptop with 'cellphone tower' broadband you have commercial free radio anytime anyplace. when i travel i often listen to my laptop like a radio and i am not lost on the radio dial in cities where there are no radio stations that i don't listen to.
definitely a thumbs up from me.

que,
XM actually started its service with 'limited' commericials and was only 9.95/month.
after sirius started taking some of its market share xm raised its price to 12.95 went 'commercial free' to match sirius. apparently from your experience the 'commercial free' part is not so true.
