Let's list our flying experiences....
Here's mine:
flew from bwi to st louis to arkansas...
bwi and little rock:
double checked ticket and id at the counter
only allowed ticketed passengers with ID into the gate area (another ID check)...here is where they scan the carry ons...two men with m16's watched...people with guns everywhere. (i was dismayed to see this 41 or so year old woman...out of shape...with a gun at her side...walking by herself.)
random carry on checks/body scans and ID verification again getting on the airplane.

Flew from CVG connected in ATL (sorry 14K :( I left your number in my luggage) and proceeded to SJU which is where I sit now
You may as well print up a t-shirt with your passport/driver's license stats because, Que's correct you will produce it from the moment you step onto airport property until you reach your destination and leave that airport. And don't think about missing your flight. . . there was a group of folks that was b.s.'ing and missed earlier flights from CVG into ATL. There names were called, they were shuttled off and they received some extra special attention from airport personnel. There were also random checks of carry-on items. . .as they called seat assignments they would call out a passenger name and you had to go get your stuff checked. . . .I've never been one to carry-on much besides a books, magazines, candy, sunglasses, cellphones, etc. I made sure I had a big enough bag to to do double duty but it clashed with my outfit like a mofo.
Getting through customs should be a real treat. . . .I can probably forget bringing back liquor. Hmmm, on second thought I'll call the airport to double check. . .maybe the duty-free shops will have some.
