I'm sure we've discussed this previously but I'd like some current responses considering the technology changes constantly.
They have been calling me CONSTANTLY! The dish people offering to hook up my entire house blah blah blah one is even throwing in surround sound and a DVD player as a 'free gift'
Of course I see the cable commercial and I have enjoyed cable but no I have NOT enjoyed all the money I dish out. I pay $145/month for my cable but this does include my high speed internet.
As well as my friend has Satellite and they don't get VH-1 Soul, lol sure not a reason to knock out a whole company.
Fam what are you all currently choosing and if I were to break away from the Cable -what's the average satellite bill with say HBO on it? As well as has High Speed become competitively priced or when it's all said and done I'll be paying the same thing?
Thanks!

That settles it I'm staying in the country. lol :p
I pay 79.95/month for cable with all movies channels and high speed internet.
In this area to get the dish with internet is double that.
My brother has Dish network for his TV, and cable for his computers.
He pays 49.95 for 3 rooms of Dish, but he doesn't have any movie channels, and he pays 29.95 for cable.
More than I'm paying and getting less.
I'm always leery of companies offering free gifts. Here the dish companies are offering free TIVO if you sign up.
When I worked at Verizonwireless we used to have people say "Sprint will give you this, MCI will give you that" Our answer was always "We don't give gifts cus we don't have to. We have a good product at a good price."
Dish companies are lagging behind cable in alot of areas.
The other thing I don't like about Dish is the contract. If you disconnect before the end of your contract it WILL end up on your credit report.

Thanks this is some good information. I just feel like such a prisioner to Comcast, lol I see the only way to get out is to ditch them.
I think that when I move instead of transferring I will CANCEL and then I can reconfigure my cable, because everytime I call about cancelling everything except basic they claim it will only save me "$25" bucks and I don't understand that!

I was a Direct TV fan until Digital Cable.
HBO, SHOTIME, CINEMAX ON DEMAND alone kills Direct TV.
TV has changed, we are able to watch what we want, when we want.
Satellite don't really have that yet and Internet Access on cable can't be beat.

It all depends on the area you live in
digital cable with all the trimmings and dish or direct tv with all the trimmings run about the same in north jersey, but digital cable has the edge because of on damand.
they both run about 85$ plus box and remote fees, taxes etc.
you should check out each website to see which one appeals to you more.
but satellite is definately better than regular cable they keep going up on the rates to push you to buy digital
before I upgraded to digital my cable bill was 74$ and that was just with one HBO and one SHO now I pay 85$ with several of each, HBO, SHO, TMC, STARZ, ENCORE, IFC, skinnaMAX.
