Fam, yesterday I had to go o the ER. I was having severe leg pain in my left leg. 3/4 of the leg was numb.

I came to work but had to leave due to major discomfort. Anyway, I leave the job, drive to the ER and was charged $50 to be admitted. I thought he said $15, but this dude was not jokin'...$50 was the co-pay!!! I was like gottdayuuum Homie; I can get a good room on Price line for that. He was not amused.

Okay. So I wait for the Doc, 1 hour passes before they see a nigga...long story short. They take X-rays of my knee and determine that I have a Bakers Cyst that burst in my leg.

They gave me some drugs:

Vicodin
Flexeril
Naprosyn

and kicked me out.... now, I'm here at work Geekin' off of this shyt!

A Trip... My leg does not feel all that better, but I'm felling no pain, if ya know what I mean. I'll have to go back to the Dr, in a week if there is no change, shyt! I hate getting old.

I hope everything works out okay.

$50 to get admitted to the ER, damn!

Would they turn a person away if they do not have the money?

Thanks Yall.......$50 was for Kaiser, some new rate change as of 1/01/04. Dude showed me a memo about it. Since I always doe office visits andnever ER, I did not know there was a difference in "COPAYs"....

So, if ya can wait for an office visit, don't take ya ass to ER.

"The cyst usually occurs due to some other problem in your knee such as arthritis or even a tear of your meniscus. The swelling from this problem causes fluid to build up in your knee. This fluid pushes out the weakest point of your joint capsule surrounding your knee. This is usually to the back portion of your knee capsule, and a cyst forms. The cyst has a valve made out of your joint capsule tissue. This valve can sometimes become clogged and the fluid becomes trapped in the cyst. Thus, even when the injury has resolved, you still have the swelling in the back of your knee. This is associated with pain usually described as dull and aching. The pain is worse with prolonged walking or standing. It is sometimes improved with rest, elevation and taking pain medication"

Stay off your feet for a minute!

i don't have vicadin...but i keep flex and nap in the medicine cabinet!

My insurance has no co-pay at all. We have a bucket of funds and you pay nothing until that bucket is empty.

After that you pay 20 they pay 80 up until a certain dollar amount then they pay 100%.

My son has had bronchitis twice since January and that has helped because I walked into the drug store, picked up prescriptions and walked out. No money out of my pocket.

And my bucket is still 85% full.

Man, take care of yourself. Trust me, ya knees aint nothing to take lightly.

Damn, it's good to work for the govt. I get hurt or sick, I just go to the Naval Hospital and get the drugs I need and be seen for free. Let a brotha know.....might have to put you on the Pookie hook-up and get ya admitted to the hospital in San Diego.

My ER co-pay is $100 up from $50. Doctors visit is up from $15 to $20 and if I go to a specialist its $40.

My daughter was in the hospital for two days in February. It only cost $100. I had to take her to the ER at midnight and they kept her.

Oh and Sugah, stay off your leg. Go home and watch movies and take naps. Take care of yourself.
