Fam, what do you think of us having a Secret Santa this year?

1. Gifts would be under $20
How would we do it? or does it sound like a good idea?

I've done this...and it's kind of hard to do on-line. You also take the chance of getting a gift or not. Also, right now with the postal service, they may not let you send it without a return address.....

If played, a suggestion could be for everyone to send in what the would like to Admin privately.

Admin sends out the list, u tell admin what gift you'd like to send. If that gift is already selected, he'll tell u to select another.

Send the gift to admin wrapped and everything within another box.

Admin can address is and send it out.

Of course, include enough postage for him to send it out.

Now that of course if Admin doesn't mind.

Anyway, I'll compile the list and pick at random who gets who, then, I'll send each person the name of the person to buy for.

The best way mich be to order the gift from an online vendor: like Amazon, Best Buy,1-800 flowers ETC.

I do not have the time as I used to have in running to the post office. I basically am at the post office on saturday mornings only...so don't be sending me no gift to send for you..or the shyt will be late:D

Here's a suggestion which ties into another thread I think Tee posted. . . .How about everyone post 2-3 websites they would like something from and then they could get a gift certificate.

I know it's not like unwrapping a "surprise" but for some, the surprise may just be actually getting something addressed to you

I called it quits the one year that this lady bought me a big ol' can of carmel/butter/cheese popcorn, like 5-10 lbs. and you know that's a lot of danged popcorn. . .she ain't never seen me eat popcorn so how she came to the conclusion I wanted all those flavors is beyond me. . .but it is the thought that counts right? And her thought was that I should be swole the heck up from eating all that buttery/sticky/salty ish. :blah:

Yes, I take them out of the box, and I have them on display in my living room.

If she plans on keeping them and maybe re-selling them one day then it's best to keep the boxes but for me it's just something to make my home look nicer. :) So I don't even save the boxes.

Well Taylors is a suburb of Greenville. I think that's on there somewhere. :p Glad you like it. Since this is not really a tourist town it took alot of running around. I finally had to go to the Embassy Suites Hotel gift shop. :p

Was at Hecht's yesterday, the big after Christmas sale plus the 20% off coupon from the paper and found me the perfect off white/cream sweat suit to match..

I bought over $300 worth of clothes and shoes for $145. I had some gift cards to use. I drove the girls ragged...they was laid out on the floor. :D

That's kind of a fucked up way to do things Bright.. You have no idea what could have happened... Granted it's a few days late but many people were up here explaining why their gifts might have been late...

i have scrooge like tendencies myself! but dang!

i purposely didnt send my sisters gifts this year...(wanted them to sweat a bit because i didnt feel like they gave due apprectiation from the considerable effort i made last year...so this year they get the gift card instead of the host of gifts for their entire families)
i purposely don't ever send birthday gifts on time...

i didnt get in this secret santa because i don't do gifts on time...cept to my daughter.

well.. I love to give but unfortunately.. Things don't always turn out the way I plan.. So this is why I didn't participate in the Secret Santa.. If something came up and I was unable to send my gift "on time" then it would have bothered me..

And now I know that I did the right thing!!!

Hell, let your gift be a Kwanza gift... Or better yet... Send it back so someone wouldn't have wasted their money since you're not gonna open it anyway.... :rolleyes:

I have been fighting tooth and nail trying to get a gift out to You..... First of all my paycheck was almost $200 shorter than it was supposed to be.... I had to borrow money from my mother just to get my Mother In Law a gift..... I would NEVER have gotten involved if had known that was going to happen....I have too big a heart to let someone get me a gift and not do the same in return..... As a matter of fact I was out today with Sea and talked about this same thing.....

Brightness maybe you dont understand when a person runs into hard times (and beleve me it's been rough) But dont think for one second that I have intentionally NOT sent you a gift.... I still intend and will send you a gift and whether u open it use it or send it back is really up to you.....

But I dont think that its fair that you have taken such a bitter appraoch throughout this whole thread wthout first finding out my side of the story.....

I do now wish i had taken Bedroomyes approach and not gotten involved because something did come up and I do feel really bad about it.... but i had no idea that such bitterness would come from the Hush Fam at his time of the year.....

Please don't feel that way CL. We have ALL had hard times. I'm sure when Bright finds out she will understand as well.

I hope this doesn't discourage anyone from participating next year. This was GREAT!!! I am looking forward to next year and even if I had not gotten a gift...or even gotten a gift I didn't particularly like...or gotten it late...or whatever. That's not what it's all about. There has been so much love in the thread the past few weeks.

admin would choose names... email address to us with any hints about what that person likes and you send it to them and after christmas (i think) we all post what we got :D
