RINGTONES!!!

I guess this is an adhoc to my "childlike wonderment' thread, lol I am so obsessed with these things. I have made groups and given everyone I know a ringtone, lol lol

They are just so fun. I mean you can catagorize all kinds of people.

I am about to change them up yet again. I like the fact I know way in advance before I pick up the phone who is calling.

I have an overall ringtone and then I catagorize people. I don't have enough people for ringtones, lol I want to download my entire phone book (like all those people call me), lol lol what fun!

As an example:

My Mom and Stepmom - Dear Mama by Tupac
My Girlfriends - Independent Woman by Destiny's Child
My Ex - walked right outta Heaven (this changes based on my mood)
My Sister - Milkshake
My Brother - Wankster
Casual dudes - Big Poppa
My best girlfriend - Sex and the City Theme
My new dude - "Brothers" by Angie Stone
My Job - Shut Up by Black eyed peas

Ok, I will stop, lol

yes Zuri I believe they are. I get them from Zingy and last nite was in the back seat comparing ring tones with A brother who was with Sprint and he was impressed, lol lol then we all started playing our different ring tones and mine came out the clearest and we all were on Poly too. So I'm hyped, lol lol

I won't be changing for awhile though - I actually like all of these, lol

Oh yeah!

The ring tone for Alayah "More than a woman" sounded really good.

I might have to expand my phone's memory, so that I can include more ring tones...and also include mp3 files so that I can listen to them through my phone.

Yeah!

Plain Old Cell Phones Fading Away in U.S.
Mon Feb 2, 2:10 PM ET Add Technology - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By Ben Berkowitz

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - As a fashion color, gray is the new black, thin batteries are in and you're not in vogue if you don't have the latest ringtone.

As the U.S. wireless market grows, the cell phone is evolving into a phone in name only as calling becomes almost secondary to a host of other functions.

After years of trailing Japan and Western Europe, where cell phones have long had color screens, e-mail, music, video games, cameras and other accessories that make American cell phones look backward in comparison, handset makers are finally pushing a new generation of units on the domestic market that offer the full range of functions available elsewhere.

"From the consumer perspective ... it makes no sense to go for a low-end handset," ABI Research analyst Kenil Vora said. "The definition of low-end shifts from monochrome handsets to phones with a little bit of something on it."

Qualcomm Inc., whose CDMA (news - web sites) network technologies serve as the basis for two of the four largest wireless carriers in the United States, said recently its rapid growth was being driven by demand for phones supporting features like color screens, cameras and multimedia capabilities.

Such features -- once considered "advanced" -- are now increasingly mainstream, especially as prices fall. CDMA-compatible phones with color screens can be had for as little as $30 and with cameras for $100.

Texas Instruments Inc. said last week the greatest part of its sales growth was coming from a heated demand for wireless technology, including processors that let phones run multimedia applications.

As prices fall and demand rises, Qualcomm Chief Operating Officer Tony Thornley told Reuters recently, the market for plain old phones -- no color, no camera, no music or downloadable games -- is drying up in the United States.

"I think that that part of the market is going to decline quite rapidly," he said. "I think black-and-white screens are going to go the way of the black-and-white television very rapidly."

The cameras in the new generation of phones in particular are improving -- Thornley said Qualcomm's roadmap for its chips supports resolutions of 4 megapixels by 2005, and predicted that flash and zoom would become increasingly common. Most cameraphones now use 0.3 megapixel cameras.

In the coming years, Thornley said, the most simple of phones were only likely to have any kind of market share in places like India and Latin America, where low-cost cellular is crucial.

CELL PHONE NO LONGER

Qualcomm is not the only company seeing such a shift. Motorola Inc., the world's second-largest cell phone maker, has said that the landscape is changing.

"Certainly, the whole concept of cell phones is no longer," Chief Executive Ed Zander said on a recent conference call. "It's becoming an information appliance and you're adding the kind of capabilities -- Web access and the kind of camera capability and some of the future products -- (so that) consumers are looking at this thing as more than just making a phone call."

Brokerage Smith Barney recently estimated that, entering 2004, half of all cell phones shipped would have color displays, and citing IDC, said as many as 100 million camera phones would be shipped in the year.

The changes can be seen already in the inventory of the four largest U.S. carriers.

Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc, has only two non-color, under-$100 phones on its Web site. Cingular Wireless, a joint venture of SBC Communications Inc and BellSouth Corp., offers three. AT&T Wireless Services Inc. has two and Sprint PCS Group has none.

ABI's Vora said that with major handset makers like Samsung Electronics and Nokia (news - web sites) already shipping anywhere from 50 percent to 90 percent of their phones in color, monochrome looked to die out worldwide by 2008.

Just when I had decided that I was satisfied with my ringtones. I was messin round this evening and decided to go check out tmobiles site. THEY have been kinda under construction for like several months as they revamp or whatever and I could never see my choices for ring tones etc. etc.

OH MY DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The site is up and running and I'm about to freak out. Now they have "HI-FI" ring tones for my phone which means now an ACTUAL song (ok if someone already has this sorry for the over excitement, lol) can play when my phone rings. Tmobile is coming UP. DAMN the R&B classic section, lol lol Now I gotta revamp my ENTIRE phone, lol lol

They got the Spinners and then they have some songs I haven't seen on our other sites like Sexual Healing (these are poly's). I am going to have fun tonite (which when you think of the fact I'm home on a Friday nite when the temp is above 55 playing with ringtones, is just damn pitiful, lol ) BUT ANYWAY.....

Here is a sampling of what they have:

Hi-fi:
It's your thing - Isleys
If you don't know me by now - harold melvin/bluenotes
That Lady - Isleys
Don't stop till you get enough - mike
Baby Boy - Beyonce
In those jeans - genuine
whenever whereever whatever - Maxwell
Say my name - Destiny's Child

Poly:
Pleasure Principle (along with most of control) - Janet
Sexual healing - Marvin
Lovin you - Minnie
Let's get it on - Marvin

and so many more, lol

I can do that as well, but I to was like that's a recording which becomes 3 hand or something by the time I get it to be a ring tone, lol

I have quickly recorded a phone number on my vocal memo and it came out pretty clear.

Well of course I downloaded a wall paper of a margurita glass and one ring tone "Don't stop till you get Enough" was calling mea and Tmobile was fucking up so my phone would light up vibrate and an error would come but NO sound. So I called and they were 'having problems" (I guess the rest of us tmobilites were all freaking out simutaneously) and credited me and told me to try tomorrow.

I am going to try to figure out how to give you a sample link over here.

I do wish they had more women oriented songs. As I listened to In those jeans I could see some brother having that next to the name of the new girl he has added to the list, lol

But they have Baby Boy I guess, lol

While I was reading this post, a funny thought crossed my mind regarding "the Butterfly Effect". Somewhere out there, in one of the huge wireless services companies, there is the person responsible for igniting interest in ringtones sitting at his/her desk, having a spontaneous orgasm.

Ring tones are ok, but there are too many, and not including the music ones......

I don't have that many folks ringing my phone so i don't need all those different ring tones.

Right now i have Shake ya Tail Feather on mine....

Just surfing and decided to stop by tmobile to see whats up on the ring tone page, lol

havent changed in months! Quite enjoying my Isley's "Who's that lady' Well of course I got excited again, lol

They have added voices to the ringtone arena and so now you can get snoop saying "Get off yo ass and answer the phone" LOL LOL LOL

Well my favorite: "Is this a bootycall? Is this a money call? Is this a bootycall involving money?" HILARIOUS!!!!!!! My daughter plays and uses my phone (since it's our long distance) so I gotta let that go.

I did download one main ring tone: Musicology (the hi-fi so it's Prince) and one for my new 'dates' sexy by Twista, lol Love that the phone ringing with You're so sexyyyy.

Dang they had so many more I wanted but uh I don't have that many people calling, lol

I wish! they are 99 cents each. Which apparently is cheap because my friend has verizon and is pissed that she (1) has to buy in groups of 3 and (2) they are like $4.99 for the group of three.
