You get engaged and you recieve the engagement ring, but it doesn't have a diamond in it...deep down would you be a lil upset? Would you tell him?
Those of you that are married or have been married, did you give a diamond, if so, how many carats?
Did any of you married HUSH Diva's give engagement rings?

...but I'll re-tell the story. We couldn't afford a great ring at the time. So I surprised her with what I thought would be a memento, a cubic zirconia as a symbol of our engagement until I can get a real diamond. I of course had no sense of what size would be discreet, but i also thought she would take it as a symbol and put it away until the real thing was acquired, not do what she did, that is, parade it around like Liz Taylor, all her friends ohhing and ahhing like it was the rock of the ages! Anybody with half a mind about diamonds would know I could never have afforded one the size of a brick, that would have easily been $10,000 !
We ended up letting it ride for a few years, then I surprised her at Christmas with a nice half carat, opting more for excellent quality than sheer size. She wept in my arms, she was so happy! Still, I thought she would leave it in the jewelry box for special occasion wearing, but she never takes it off! I had to stop worrying about the thug on the subway or street, and just let her enjoy it. Although it sounds very Oprahish to say that love shouldn't have a price on it, I would say that a diamond was very important. My wife is not one to be worried about material things, Lord knows she aint with me for the money, so the timeless significance to the occasion is a big part of it for us.
