Are they still selling cap guns? I saw them in a $1 shop, but it was the cheapo knockoffs from the far east and they may break apart. Not that I was going to buy any. Back in the day, they had solid metal guns that fired off a roll of caps. That began boring as we grew, and we started using a pair of pliers to sandwich a whole roll of caps, and then bang it down on a hard surface for a huge bang! I cracked a big chunk of the corner of my house's concrete steps like that.

Because of trigger happy cops, and genuine accidents most toy manufacturers do not market realistic guns anymore.
All you see are colored one that could not be mistaken for real.
My son had one when he was about 6, but I never let him play with it. It was a gift from a family member and I was cordial but I hate guns...even toy cap guns.
Come to think of it I hate them when I was kid too.

...for the "tap, tap, tap", of the individual shots, that's why we started blowing up whole rolls.
