Since it looks like the cruise won the poll, here is some info that I found while researching Group cruises for my church that may be helpful to the planning committee.

No the prices do not include airfare...these prices are cruise only! you can get airfare thru the cruiseline, which tends to be higher than airfare you can get thru the intranet. the only benefit to getting airfare thru the cruise line is round trip transfers are included in airfare thru cruise line.
Round trip transfers=cruise line will provide transportation from airport to pier and back to airport. You can buy transfers from the cruise line, even if you get your own air.

It gives folks a day to get to Florida...and get ready to sail..
SeaDuceme2
10-23-2003, 07:16 AM
The rates I posted are for Inside or oceanview cabins, these are regular rates. We as a family aint committed enough yet to do group rates, in order to get group rates we would need to be able to guarantee a minimum of 25 cabins(50 people).
The prices I listed would be run of ship cabins, meaning you would not be assigned a cabin until u board the ship. so you wont know where u are until the sail date. If you want cabin assignment up front, of course the rates are gonna be a lil higher.
If at least 3 people are willing to agree to August 13th, that can be the date and folks can start booking.
Any takers?

Aug. 13th is fine with me. As of now, I am planning on going even though I will be cruising in June. I am willing to do another cruise just so I can see my Hush family:D
Now, I gotta try to start setting a few bills aside here and there. I am also saving for my cruise in June, so this may be kinda tough:(

What days of the week are those and which cruise line, location, etc. ?
Folks can't commit unless there's something definitive to commit to. . .
I see people saying what's good and what's not for them. . .I may have missed the declaration so excuse me if that's the case. . .just point me to it.

Looks like August 13 it is!!!
Understanding Cruise Cost
BASIC CRUISE COSTS
The "base" cost of your cruise will include your accommodations as chosen for the length of the cruise, onboard entertainment and activities, meals and use of the facilities aboard the ship.
PORT TAXES AND FEES
These are the taxes and fees charged by the various government and port authorities at the ports where your ship calls, the cruise line passes these fees along to the passengers. These typically cover the cost of docking and use of the port facilities; "parking fees" for your ship if you will. And certain government authorities impose a "head tax" on cruise passengers, which is used to maintain and improve the ports infrastructure.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
When your sights are set on an exciting cruise and sun-filled beaches, it's a drag to consider options to protect oneself against unforeseen events that may mar your expensive vacation-not to mention the additional cost.
(A) You've paid for your cruise six months out and a crisis hits: you're downsized out of a job, there's a death in the family or some other catastrophe hits so can't take that cruise. While the deadline for a "free" cancellation has passed, you may think that the cruise line will surely have a heart and waive the penalty. Wrong!
(B)Cruise lines do not waive penalties for cancelling passengers without insurance. You must expect they will strictly enforce their cancellation policies no matter how dire the circumstances. And your travel agent can do nothing.
(C)It's important to know that if a health issue arises on the cruise, you're unlikely to find medical conditions comparable to those in the U.S.: Cruise ships aren't required to conform to American medical standards. Conditions at foreign hospitals are sometimes relatively primitive by American standards.
"Pre-existing medical conditions aren't covered by cruise line travel insurance, but there are some companies that do offer insurance that does cover pre-existing conditions, such as Travel Guard or Travel Access insurance."
TYPES OF CABINS
Single: Accomodates a single person. May have a single bed or a full-size/double bed. Cruise rate for 1 person in cabin are usually double.
Double: Accomodates two people. Twin beds, double bed or queen/king.
Triple/Quad: Accomodates three or four. The third and fourth person may be accommodated on a sleeper sofa, a folding upper bed (like a bunk bed) or any combination thereof.
Inside: a cabin with no window or view
Oceanview: a cabin with an oceanview through a porthole or window.
Mini-suite: A larger oceanview cabin with separate sitting and sleeping areas.
Suite: Usually the best grade of accommodations with a separate bedroom/sleeping area, living area and sometimes a dining area, wet bar and lavish bathrooms.
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?
If you decide to wait for the last minute bargain, it’s true that you may find some great prices on certain cruises, but then again, you may find no space at all on the cruise of your dreams, or you might end up paying more than you want to because the early booking deals are all sold out.
What sells out first:
Christmas/New Years, Presidents Week in February, Spring Break Week in March, Easter Week and July/August sailings when the children are out of school. To get the space you want on the cruise and necessary air arrangements, don’t hesitate to book 9 to 11 months in advance if possible.
The remainder of February, March and April sailings usually start to fill up once the weather starts to turn cold in the Northeast and Midwest. You can usually find bargains both in advance and at the last minute. But if you want a specific type of cabin, you may consider booking as early as possible. If you’re flexible, consider waiting for a "deal" to show up.
DINING
1st(main) Seating: usually around 6pm
2nd(late): usually at 8:30PM
ATTIRE:
On 3 night cruise there is usually 1 formal night, which means you dress for dinner.
MEN: Tuxedo (only if you prefer) or Dark suit.
WOMEN: Gown, Cocktail (After 5) Dress, or Pant suit.
